PremiAir Nulon Racing owner Peter Xiberras will miss the upcoming Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint, as he resumes his Top Fuel campaign in Sydney.

As James Golding and Tim Slade take to their PremiAir Nulon Chevrolet Camaros in Perth, Xiberras will be competing on the other side of the country.

The veteran drag racer will contest the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs, with two Top Fuel championship rounds to be held in two days at the Sydney Dragway event.

The Sydney event has shifted to the May 17-19 weekend, with Xiberras opting to compete in Sydney in his PremiAir Nulon dragster.

Xiberras’ Supercars team has undergone a key change between events, with Competition Director Ludo Lacroix stepping up into Race Engineer duties for Slade. The Lacroix move comes after Mirko De Rosa stepped aside from the role.

Xiberras, a Sydney local, said he couldn't miss a chance to compete in front of family and friends.

“There was never any question, we could not miss the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs,” Xiberras said.

“This event is going to be huge, especially when it comes to the Top Fuel title with two championship rounds across Saturday and Sunday.

“With the championship so tight at the moment and only three rounds left in the chase, every single run, every single point, is incredibly important.

“Add to that the fact this is my home event as a Sydney-sider, and the appeal of the Nitro Champs just goes to another level again – there is nothing quite like racing in front of your friends and family.

“We have tasted success at Sydney before, hopefully we can do it again.”

Golding is 10th in the points heading to Perth, with Slade 22nd. Tickets for the Perth event are on sale now. International viewers can follow all the action on Superview.
