The Clipsal 500 Adelaide Grid Girls will be turning heads on the track in 2014 with a super sexy, fashion inspired outfit complete with racing belt, created by celebrated local Adelaide designer Liza Emanuele.

Clipsal 500 race organisers selected Emanuele after a competitive tender process. The Adelaide-based fashion designer has been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to inject her own creative flair into Adelaide’s largest ticketed sporting event and simply can’t wait for the Clipsal 500 to roll around next February.

“I have been working on these designs for more than three months, but have been dreaming up concepts for years,” she said.

“There is a departure from previous years with a distinct merging of fashion and sport to create what I think is a fresh look, that is both fun and fashion forward, and I’m delighted with the final outcome.

"The designs have been totally inspired by the driver and have literally taken hundreds of hours to create.”

Clipsal 500 boss Mark Warren said it was important to evolve all aspects of the Clipsal 500 experience for race goers and the appointment of a local Adelaide designer was the first of many big announcements to come.

“Liza has a long and proud history working with iconic South Australian events and brands and we felt she was the best candidate to help us create a fresh new look for the 2014 Clipsal 500,” Warren said.

“As South Australia’s largest annual ticketed sporting event, the new Clipsal 500 Grid Girl outfits are sure to attract attention on a national scale.”

The ‘driver’ inspired 2014 Clipsal 500 Grid Girl jumpsuit has various features, including a combination of bold jet black, fire red, petrol blue and stark white; an actual seatbelt as the belt; reflective tape that sparkles in the sunlight; and each girl’s name embroidered on her individually tailored, locally made jumpsuit.

The girls will be styled by some of Adelaide’s best – Cain at TEMPEST for hair and CELCIUS for tanning, makeup and nails.

The 2014 Clipsal 500 will again set new benchmarks for racing and entertainment with a range of exciting new on and off track announcements to be unveiled tomorrow.
