The Repco Supercars Championship field is today being readied for departure to New Zealand ahead of the upcoming ITM Taupō Super400.

Cars have been transported to Avalon Airport, where they will be placed in specially-designed double stack car racks and air-freighted to New Zealand.

Included in the trek to Avalon is Cam Waters’ new Tickford Racing Mustang, following chassis repairs that featured a trip to Pace Innovations on the Gold Coast.

The April 19-21 round is the only flyaway event of the 2024 season, with Supercars teams travelling to Australian rounds with their transporters. The Taupō paddock will look slightly different to Australian rounds, with each car allocated one support equipment container.

The operation is led by Gibson Freight, which has long played a key role in getting Supercars to overseas events. Previously, Gibson Freight has overseen logistics operations to Supercars events in Shanghai, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, and Austin.

It is the first air freight operation in Supercars since the last New Zealand event in September 2022, and the first of the Gen3 era.

Once cars and containers arrive in Auckland, they will be transported to Taupō International Motorsport Park. All 24 cars will then take part in an historic Track to Town event, before track action begins on Friday 19 April.

After arriving from New Zealand, teams will have a three-week turnaround before making the 4000km trip across the Nullabor for the Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint on May 17-19.

There are still tickets remaining for the ITM Taupō Super400 through Supercars.com and Ticketek.

While Saturday and Sunday’s general admission and grandstand seating is sold out, Friday ticketing options for general admission, corporate hospitality and grandstands are available. Three-day hospitality options are also available through Supercars.com.
