Three red flags punctuate dramatic start to Friday
  • Broc Feeney fastest, MSR cars crash in chaotic Practice 3

  • Cameron Crick, Dylan O'Keeffe crash in interrupted session

  • Jaxon Evans also beaches car at Hell Corner

Broc Feeney has kept the #88 Red Bull Ampol Camaro on top of the time sheets in Practice 3, which featured three red flags and crashes for both Matt Stone Racing cars.

Feeney fired in a session-topping 2:06.7842s amid three stoppages, with MSR co-drivers Cameron Crick and Dylan O'Keeffe both coming unstuck at the Mountain.

Rookie Crick crashed through The Esses, before O'Keeffe found the barriers at Griffins Bend, the latter incident ending the session early.

The repaired Will Brown/Scott Pye car was ninth, with the Cam Waters/James Moffat entry 26th and last after focusing on race runs.

Mostert opened the batting with a 2:07.7958s, and improved to a 2:06.9027s before reigning Bathurst champion Stanaway turned in a 2:06.8748s.

After taking over from Cameron Hill, Crick found the concrete through The Esses, bringing the damaged #4 SP Tools Camaro to a rest at Forrest's Elbow.

“He’s okay, obviously pretty gutting for him," Hill said.

“He wouldn’t have wanted to do that today but it’s still Friday, we’ve got a really fast car, the boys will fix her up and we’ll try and get back out there for quali this afternoon.

“Normally if you go in there you’ve either got the inside wall or you’ve got the downshift wrong.

“He was trucking along pretty well up until then. He’ll learn from this and we’ll bounce back.”

After the restart, Feeney fired in a 2:06.7842s before Jaxon Evans ran into the sand at Hell Corner, triggering a second stoppage.

There was little opportunity for drivers to make a dent on the time sheets thereafter, with O'Keeffe spinning into the wall at Griffins Bend. Kostecki was forced to avoid the car and took to the grass.

All the while, a suspected fuel pressure issue saw Cooper Murray park the Triple Eight wildcard entry on the run to Mountain Straight, with the session declared with O'Keeffe stricken across the road.

MSR is now racing the clock to get its two cars ready for Practice 4, which will commence at 1:05pm AEDT on Friday.

The day's Supercars action will conclude with all-important Boost Mobile Qualifying at 4:15pm.
