New-look Supercars grid will be on track in early February
Queensland teams will test at QR on Monday February 5
Victorian teams to test at Winton on Wednesday February 7
The new-look Repco Supercars Championship grid will be on track in early February for test days ahead of the 2024 season.
With several drivers changing teams in the off-season, there is increased importance on test days heading into the new season.
As agreed at a recent Supercars Commission meeting, home track pre-season test days have already been scheduled.
Queensland teams will hit Queensland Raceway in Ipswich on Monday February 5, with Victorian teams to test at Winton Motor Raceway on Wednesday February 7.
There is no requirement for an all-in pre-season test day in 2024.
The test days will be held ahead of the 10-day Bathurst SuperFest event at the spiritual home of Australian motorsport, Mount Panorama.
The Bathurst SuperFest will feature the Bathurst 12 Hour from February 16-18 and the Bathurst 500 from February 23-25.
With the first competitive running of the season scheduled for Friday February 23, teams will have two weeks between testing and racing.
Both test days will be attended by representatives of the Supercars Technical Team.
As many as eight teams will have driver or team changes for the new season after one of the most rollercoaster silly seasons in recent memory.
Will Brown (Triple Eight), Jack Le Brocq (Erebus Motorsport), Nick Percat (Matt Stone Racing), David Reynolds (Team 18) and James Courtney (Blanchard Racing Team) will all drive for new teams.
Ryan Wood (Walkinshaw Andretti United) and Aaron Love (BRT) will make their full-time debuts, with Richie Stanaway making his comeback with Penrite Racing.
Tickford Racing, meanwhile, will downscale to two cars for the new season, and will also enter 2024 with a new Team Principal. Of confirmed line-ups, only Shell V-Power Racing Team and Nulon Racing will head into the new season with an unchanged driver roster.
The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will conclude at the VAILO Adelaide 500 on November 23-26, with Brodie Kostecki leading Shane van Gisbergen by 131 points.
