Porsche Carrera Cup race winner Max Vidau will join the title-challenging Anderson Motorsport for the 2024 Dunlop Series.

Vidau will make his competitive debut in Supercars machinery at the Thrifty Bathurst 500 in February.

The 22-year-old will race the ex-DJR Team Penske Ford Mustang which Zak Best drove to second place in this year’s Super2 Series.

Best led for the balance of the season before being beaten to the title by Eggleston Motorsport driver Kai Allen, who will defend his crown in 2024.

Vidau won the Australian Formula Ford title in 2017, and later moved onto the Porsche ladder, racing in Michelin Sprint Challenge and then Carrera Cup.

The young driver joins a team fresh off the back of a successful maiden Super2 season, with Michael Anderson’s team previously winning won the Super3 title with Brad Vaughan in 2022.

Anderson Motorsport also took out this year’s Kumho V8 Touring Car title with Jude Bargwanna.

Best was engineered by the experienced Brendan Hogan, who previously worked at the likes of Tickford Racing and Blanchard Racing Team in the main game.

Vidau is the latest driver to join the Supercars ranks after a solid career in Porsches, following in the footsteps of Matt Payne and Cameron Hill.

He claimed three victories on his way to fifth in the 2023 Carrera Cup standings, and has already clocked up Gen3 Supercar laps with Nulon Racing on a ride day.

Penrite Racing rookie Payne won the last start VAILO Adelaide 500, having debuted in tin tops in Carrera Cup in late 2021.

Fellow rookie Hill, the 2021 Carrera Cup champion, debuted for Matt Stone Racing in 2023.

Then, there’s 2024 Walkinshaw Andretti United rookie Ryan Wood, who dominated the 2023 Super2 season with five wins and three round wins.

Wood was a New Zealand Porsche junior, and raced in the Michelin Sprint Challenge. 

Vidau will test with Anderson Motorsport for the first time in early February, before the new season gets underway at Mount Panorama on February 23-25.
