Powerhouse BMW team confirmed for 2025 Bathurst 12 Hour
Two-car Team WRT squad confirmed for Australia’s International Enduro
WRT scored 2024 pole, contended for outright honours
BMW will return to the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, a two-car Team WRT squad confirmed for Australia’s International Enduro in 2025.
Winners of the race in 2018, Team WRT will enter a pair of BMW M4 GT3 cars in the outright Pro class for the third consecutive year, coming off the back of a strong 2024 attack that saw them contenders throughout.
The team scored the Allan Simonsen Pole Award for the first time, while their best runner ultimately finished fifth outright after running third within the final half-hour of the race.
That backed up a best of fourth the year prior, BMW's best in the GT3 era of the race, with the turbocharged BMWs clearly well suited to Mount Panorama.
The team will confirm the makeup of both entries, including drivers, sponsors and car numbers, in the new year.
WRT's return could pave the way for Valentino Rossi to make a Mount Panorama comeback, with the superstar Italian confirming earlier this year that he will race at the Mountain in 2025.
Belgian-based Team WRT have represented BMW for several seasons and in 2024 clinched the overall (Sprint and Endurance) teams championship in the Fanatec GT World Challenge finale’ in Jeddah.
A climactic win in the Indianapolis 8 Hour endurance race saw driver Charles Weerts crowned drivers’ champion in the Intercontinental GT Challenge. They also finished on the podium in the FIA GT World Cup at Macau this year.
WRT also run the factory BMW squad in the FIA World Endurance Championship with a strong debut season in the Hypercar class for the squad this year.
BMW have had a strong track record at the Bathurst 12 Hour, including winning the race twice (2007 and 2010) in the Production Car era and scoring pole position on three occasions, including last year.
Though yet to finish on the podium in the GT3 era, both the M6GT3 and the current M4 GT3 racers have proven highly competitive at Mount Panorama.
