Matt Stone Racing has confirmed it will field a wildcard entry at the 2025 season opener in Sydney, with Cameron Crick revealed as the driver.

Crick will make his solo Supercars debut as part of a multi-round MSR wildcard programme, beginning with Sydney on February 21-23. It is the first time a wildcard will contest the first round of a new season, taking the Sydney grid to 25 entries.

The 27-year-old will also contest this year's endurance races at The Bend and Bathurst, with MSR saying it will announce a co-driver for the entry at a later date.

Crick will be backed by long-time partner Dormer HVAC Services, which will feature as the naming rights partner on the Chevrolet Camaro in Sydney.

A regular in the Dunlop Series and multi-race winner in V8 SuperUtes, Crick was handed his Supercars debut alongside Cameron Hill for the 2024 enduros, impressing to 10th in both races.

MSR also confirmed the wildcard programme will be led by current Team Principal Peter Vale, who has been with the team since 2022.

All three MSR liveries for the Sydney round will be unveiled on February 11, eight days out from the pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park. A naming rights partner for the enduros is also yet to be confirmed.

“This is an absolute dream come true for me, I’m very excited to have my first solo race in Supercars with MSR,” said Crick, the son of late truck racing champion Rodney Crick.

“Since doing the enduros with them team last year I have built a very strong relationship with all of the crew and they have welcomed me with open arms. I have already learnt a lot from Nick and Cam and I plan to take those learnings into my home race at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“Very grateful to have Dormer HVAC Services as the main sponsor investing into this program.”

The wildcard marks a key milestone for MSR, which is set to debut a new chassis for Hill in 2025. It comes after a breakout year for the team, with Nick Percat winning twice in 2024.

“This wildcard programme has been years in the making,” Stone said.

“Having Cricky spearhead the programme is great, he is a good ambassador for the team and fits in really well. It’s also great for him to further his driving career and get the opportunity to compete solo in the Supercars main game at Sydney.

“The Bend and Bathurst enduros are obviously a bit further away, so the plans for those will come together over the next few months."

Tickets for the February 21-23 round in Sydney are on sale now.
