Porsche Carrera Cup Australia champion Harri Jones is getting a first look at Gen3 machinery in a Team 18 evaluation day at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Jones, a champion in both open-wheel and sports car racing, is getting behind the wheel of Team 18's #18 DEWALT Racing Camaro, which was recently driver by outgoing driver Mark Winterbottom.

Jones won the 2018 Australian Formula 3 Championship before moving overseas to compete in the MRF Challenge, followed a Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge title victory in 2019.

In 2021, he stepped up to Carrera Cup, winning the championship in 2022 before shifting to Europe to tackle Porsche's best in the Supercup series.

He returned to Australia and added another Carrera Cup crown this year, with Team 18 exploring a possible future with the rising star.

“We’re excited to have Harri join us for this evaluation test," Team Principal Adrian Burgess said.

“He’s demonstrated immense talent in multiple categories and has a proven track record of success here and in Europe.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to see how his talents translate to the Gen3 Supercar, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do behind the wheel of the DEWALT Camaro.

“Harri has great potential, and we’re eager to explore how he might fit into the future of Team 18.”

Team 18 has both cars on track at The Bend, with the TRADIE Beer Camaro conducting a tyre test for Supercars.

"Having been a fan of the Supercars series for as long as I can remember, today is a pretty special day getting my first taste behind the wheel," Jones said.

"I'm very grateful for the opportunity Charlie [Schwerkolt], Adrian and the entire crew at Team 18 has provided and excited for what the future may hold.”

"There will be a lot to learn today, and I'll be using every bit of my experience in the sport to get up to speed as quickly as possible. I've spent countless hours on the sim preparing and I'm confident it will be a productive day."

The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 21-23. Tickets are on sale now.
