Winning from ARMOR ALL Pole Position hasn’t been as tough in a decade.

Through nine races in 2022, just one driver has won from pole position.

That honour of sorts went to points leader Shane van Gisbergen, who won Race 4 in Tasmania from pole.

On eight other occasions, the pole winner has failed to convert to victory.

Through nine races, the 2022 season has the lowest pole-to-win conversion rate since 2012.

Remarkably, not one driver converted from pole in the opening nine races in 2012.

Mostert won from third twice last weekend

Six different drivers took the first six poles in 2022, which is a new record in itself.

Will Davison has taken three poles, but hasn’t converted to victory. Teammate Anton De Pasquale has two poles to his name.

Van Gisbergen, Brodie Kostecki, Cam Waters and David Reynolds all have a pole each.

Qualifying sessions have been staged for every race since 2009. This season’s haul is second only to 2012.

It took 10 races in 2012 for a winner to come from pole position.

That honour went to Mark Winterbottom at Phillip Island.

Five poles, but no wins for DJR in 2022

Conversely, six winners came from pole in the first nine races in 2018. Five came in 2010, 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2021.

Considering drivers haven’t raced at Wanneroo Raceway since 2019, the number of failed pole conversions could increase.

The upcoming Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight will be headlined by three sprint races.

In the last 23 races in Perth dating back to 2011, just nine times has pole been converted to victory.
