Supercars has confirmed this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 will be contested by 28 cars.
The official entry list contains the 25 full-time entries and three wildcards.
The three approved wildcards are entries from Matt Chahda Motorsport, Triple Eight Race Engineering and Erebus Motorsport.
The Anderson Motorsport wildcard entry, originally proposed in May, does not feature on the official entry list.
The 28-car grid is the biggest for a Bathurst 1000 in nearly a decade.
In 2013, 29 cars contested the Great Race.
This year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 will also be the 300th round start for Craig Lowndes.
Lowndes will share the Triple Eight wildcard with rookie Declan Fraser.
There will be 19 Commodores and nine Mustangs on this year’s grid.
It will be the final Great Race for Holden, which has won Bathurst a record 35 times.
The Commodore will be replaced by the Chevrolet Camaro from 2023, with Gen3 debuting next year.
This year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 returns to its traditional early October slot for the first time since 2019.
Of the 55 confirmed drivers in the field, 11 are former Bathurst winners.
The reigning winners, Chaz Mostert and Lee Holdsworth, will not race together in October.
Mostert and Holdsworth combined to win for Walkinshaw Andretti United.
Holdsworth, who announced his full-time retirement on Tuesday, will this year compete for Penrite Racing.
Brad Jones Racing has yet to confirm a co-driver for the Jack Smith entry.
Tickets for this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 are available on Supercars.com and Ticketek.
