Adelaide Gen3 drivers revealed

Craig Lowndes will step behind the wheel of the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro at next weekend’s VALO Adelaide 500.

The Gen3 prototypes will be on track on all four days of the December 1-4 season finale.

Lowndes and Erebus Motorsport driver Brodie Kostecki will share the Camaro track time.

The Gen3 Ford Mustang will be driven by Tickford Racing star Cam Waters and Zane Goddard.

The prototypes recently completed a VCAT at Wellcamp Airport near Toowoomba.

It came after the new seventh-generation Mustang debuted at the Repco Bathurst 1000.

The prototypes have been taken to circuits all around the country amid a rigorous testing programme.

Lowndes, who won the very first Adelaide 500 in 1999, most recently drove the Camaro at Sandown.

The seven-time Bathurst winner also got behind the wheel in Townsville.

Kostecki and Waters have also sampled Gen3 machinery, with Goddard doing the bulk of testing in the old-spec Ford.

There will be three sessions on the Thursday — 12:40pm, 4:40pm and 5:30pm.

Lowndes and Goddard will drive the Camaro and Mustang respectively before Supercars Practice 1.

It will allow Waters and Kostecki to first drive their own cars in Practice 1 at 3:55pm before sampling the Gen3 cars.

Waters and Kostecki will steer the prototypes during the 10-minute TV track time period at 4:40pm, and event rides at 5:30pm.

The cars will return for single sessions on 10:55am (Friday), Saturday (10:25am) and Sunday (11:05am).

Waters and Kostecki will complete all running on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Supercars will be on track on all four days of the event.
