An error-strewn Adelaide finale has led Will Davison to label his race as one of the worst he can remember.

Davison made as many as four mistakes — one incurring a penalty — en route to 19th.

The result cost Davison fourth overall to teammate Anton De Pasquale, who finished third.

Davison started second and led eventual winner Broc Feeney at a restart on lap 22.

He bottled the pack up with a slide at Turn 4, before handing the lead to Feeney on a platter at Turn 9.

On lap 40, Davison ran off and nosed the Turn 11 tyre wall on Lap 40.

On lap 50, Davison — trying to cover Brodie Kostecki — clattered into Reynolds at Turn 9, which held up James Courtney and Kostecki.

Davison was later handed a 15-second penalty over the incident.

“Not much to say — one of the worst races I can remember driving,” he said.

“I‘m pretty angry at myself… just pushing very hard.

“Conditions were very tricky out there, very edgy.

“We’ve been changing the car a lot. Haven’t been comfortable all weekend.

“I’ve been making mistakes all weekend, particularly in braking zones.

“Randomly locking wheels… just on edge. Just trying too hard.

“I pride myself on not stuffing up, but I did a good job of it today.”

Davison suggested poor set-up and tricky track conditions combined to bring his day undone.

While disappointed by his result, Davison congratulated De Pasquale for the podium.

“Honestly, in the last 15 years, I’ve never driven in track conditions like they were the last two days,” he said.

“Hot and slick, and hugely inconsistent lap-to-lap.

“It somewhat feels like oil on your tyres, if you get a little bit wide — the grip’s changing all the time.

“We haven’t been quite where we need to be — I was giving it everything to finish the year on a high today.

“After yesterday, I was determined not to make any mistakes, and I just made one after the other.

“Very sorry to the team, and the fans of our team. It’s great Anton got a trophy.”

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle next March.
