Anton De Pasquale has rated his 2022 season a six out of 10, having overhauled teammate Will Davison in the final race.

De Pasquale raced from pole to third in the VALO Adelaide 500 finale on Sunday.

The Shell V-Power Racing Team driver was overhauled by eventual winner Broc Feeney early on.

He then lost track position to Chaz Mostert during the stops, having been delayed by the double-stacking Shane van Gisbergen.

De Pasquale came home a distant third — critically, with Davison having a shocker, De Pasquale won the points battle at DJR.

Davison entered the day ahead, but De Pasquale finish in front to enjoy 2022 bragging rights.

Ending 2022 on the podium was what De Pasquale needed after a dramatic mid-season collapse.

After the sixth round in Darwin, De Pasquale was 214 points behind van Gisbergen.

In the final seven rounds, van Gisbergen put 710 points on De Pasquale and won 12 races.

All told, De Pasquale finished fourth overall, 924 points behind van Gisbergen.

When asked about his season, De Pasquale replied: “Six out of 10.

“We had some ups and downs. We started off quite strong, but we lost our way with a couple of things.

“We reversed for this round, which we can look at for next year.

“We’ve gained a lot more speed back this round — we probably went missing for four or five.

“We’ve got an answer to that which is good, but a bit too late.”

Sunday marked De Pasquale’s first podium since Sandown in August.

It was also his first pole since the Perth opener on April 30 — a seven-month-long dry spell of 24 races.

De Pasquale’s only win of the season came in the Darwin opener in June, when he led Davison in a DJR one-two.

Davison was arguably the better of the two, winning three races to De Pasquale’s one, and taking nine poles to De Pasquale’s four.

A crash in Bathurst severely dented Davison’s year, and the end margin between the teammates was just 26 points.

However, De Pasquale admitted no driver could match the rampant van Gisbergen this year.

"No one was catching Gizzy this year in the championship,” he said.

“It was always a race for second.

“It would’ve been good to get a couple more wins and be in with a shot at it.

“Overall, my best year yet, so we’ll keep on trucking."

De Pasquale and Davison will be teammates for a third season in 2023.

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle next March.
