Extra public transport is on track for V8 Supercar fans heading to the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600 from Friday this week.

TransLink Deputy Director-General Matt Longland said customers with pre-purchased tickets or official accreditation could travel free on Queensland Rail trains and Surfside buses between the first services from Friday to the final services on Sunday.

“We’ve been working closely with V8 Supercars organisers to ensure fans didn’t miss a moment of the on-track action at Surfers Paradise,” Longland said.

“Extra train and bus services will be running across the weekend, as well as our normal scheduled services, so customers should plan their journey to arrive early and enjoy the atmosphere.

“Extra trains will run express from Brisbane CBD stations to Helensvale, where a connecting bus will take them to the track.

“For customers already on the Gold Coast, additional buses will run along the Gold Coast Highway, stopping at Main Beach and Surfers Paradise, from 7am to midnight on Friday and Saturday (October 26 and 27), as well as Sunday from 7am until 10.30pm.

“Continuous shuttle buses will run to the track from the Gold Coast Turf Club, Helensvale train station and Surfers Paradise, which are also free for customers with a pre-purchased ticket.

“Extra trains will also run after the event back to Brisbane on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

“Additional buses for the trip home will run from the Tedder Avenue stop in Surfers Paradise south along the Gold Coast Highway from 7am to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and until 10.30pm on Sunday.

“Route 700 (Southport – Tweed Heads) buses will run 24 hours in both directions across the weekend which is especially handy for music fans heading to the ‘Sand Jam’ concerts on Friday and Saturday nights.”

Buses will replace trains for customers on the Cleveland train line due to scheduled track and other maintenance. Customers should allow extra travel time as delays may occur.

A park ‘n’ ride will be available for the three event days at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Racecourse Drive in Bundall. Cost will be $10 per day, collected by the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard.

Visit the TransLink website for more information, or phone 12 12 30.

Tickets are available for pre-purchase online through Ticketek for the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600.
