Reinging Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen today took the wheel of NASCAR machinery for the first time, as the Red Bull Ampol Racing driver prepares for his one-off NASCAR Cup Series appearance this weekend with PROJECT 91.

The 33-year old Kiwi conducted a test day with Trackhouse Racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Monday (Tuesday Australian time), turning his first and only real-world laps ahead of his cameo at the upcoming Chicago Street Race.
