Lee Holdsworth continues strong form on Saturday morning

Holdsworth continued his strong form aboard the #25 Mobil 1 Appliances Online entry, having topped Thursday co-driver practice.

Chaz Mostert also topped Practice 4 on Friday, and will be eighth car out in Saturday's ARMOR ALL Top Ten Shootout.

Practice 5 began with an accident for Matt Campbell, with Garth Tander and David Russell both striking drama at The Chase.

Tander set the early pace on a 2:06.498s, before Holdsworth dropped into the 2:05s.

Just nine minutes had elapsed once Campbell found the wall, before he later struck drama down Conrod Straight.

The session was restarted following a six-minute stoppage, with Campbell’s car returned to the paddock.

In a bid to unseat Holdsworth’s time, Tander ran long at The Chase, with the #888 Red Bull Ampol Racing Commodore dramatically catching air.

Holdsworth lowered his own benchmark to a 2:05.642s with 19 minutes remaining.

Five minutes later, Russell fired off at The Chase, and brought the #99 Boost Mobile Erebus entry to safety on the grass verge.

The session stayed green, but no driver could hold a candle to Holdsworth, who ended the session 0.396s ahead of Golding.

Thomas Randle and Dale Wood were fourth and fifth, with Jonathon Webb, Tim Blanchard, Zak Best, Craig Lowndes and Tony D’Alberto rounding out the top 10.

Tander ended the session 11th, with Jack Perkins - aboard the provisional pole-sitting Will Brown car - 21st.

"The Mobil 1 Appliances Online car has been quick since we rolled out of the truck," Holdsworth said.

"We've just continued to improve. We worked on the race car then; you need scope for the race.

"Chaz will jump in for the next session and tune it up for the shootout.

"It's always nice to be fast, but we've got to be there tomorrow."

Supercars will return to the track on Saturday for Practice 6 at 12:15pm AEDT. Click here to view the track schedule.
