Craig Lowndes has been tasked with all Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro running at Sandown.

Lowndes will complete all Gen3-dedicated sessions in the Camaro at this weekend’s Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint.

The seven-time Bathurst winner will be on track on all three days of the event.

Zane Goddard will return to the seat of the Gen3 Ford Mustang.

There will be two Gen3-only sessions on Friday; one at 12:05pm local time, and another at 4:05pm.

The cars will return for single sessions on Saturday (1:50pm) and Sunday (10:40am).

The Gen3 prototypes will also be on track for a Monday ride day.

The Camaro will be steered by Erebus Motorsport driver Will Brown.

A yet-to-be-confirmed Triple Eight driver will also drive the Camaro on Monday.

Veteran duo David Reynolds and James Courtney will drive the Mustang.

Lowndes is no stranger to the Gen3 Camaro, having driven the car at July's NTI Townsville 500.

The three-time Supercars champion drove the car on the Friday, a day after the cars were subject to a closed test.

Sandown will be the eighth different circuit the Gen3 prototypes have circulated.

Most recently, the cars turned laps at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Lowndes will complete triple duties somewhat at this weekend's event.

Not only will Lowndes complete his regular broadcast duties, but he will also sample a Brad Jones Racing Commodore.

It was confirmed last week that Lowndes will steer Jack Smith's #4 SCT Logistics Commodore in Friday's co-driver session.

Lowndes will race a Triple Eight wildcard at October's Repco Bathurst 1000.

Given BJR hasn't locked in a co-driver for the #4, and the wildcard won't be on track, a window opened up for Lowndes to drive the car.

It will be the first time since 2004 that Lowndes has driven a non-Triple Eight car at an event in a competitive session.

BJR is expected to announce a co-driver for Smith in the coming weeks.
