Major Supercars shipment arrives in UK

A Garry Rogers Motorsport chassis that contested just one Repco Supercars Championship event has landed in the United Kingdom.

Alex Sidwell and his Holden Racing UK operation have taken to social media to announce the arrival of GRM 022 as well as various parts.

GRM 022’s only main game event was the 2017 Winton SuperSprint, where James Golding was entered as a wildcard.

Built to VF Commodore specification, it also completed the full 2017 Super2 Series with Mason Barbera behind the wheel.

V8 Sleuth reported last October that Sidwell had purchased the car.

“We will gradually build this up into a complete car,” read a Holden Racing UK post.

It’s the seventh Supercar to enter Sidwell’s collection, joining HRT 047, TMS 001, PWR VE010, BJR 001, GRM VF14 and GRM VF15.

The Brit steered the latter of those to victory in Thunder Saloons and Super Saloons races at Brands Hatch earlier this month.

Sidwell and his team also reported it had received a container full of parts sourced from the likes of GRM, Triple Eight Race Engineering and Geoff Emery.

“Most of the parts are from GRM for VFs 14/15 and a lot from Geoff for TMS001,” the post noted.

“Even some VX bits in there too, the spoiler was a rare find.”

HRT 047 won on debut at Winton in 2002 with Jason Bright driving.

BJR 001 similarly was driven to victory by Bright, twice in 2013.

GRM VF14 is notable as the car in which Scott McLaughlin took his maiden Supercars Championship race win.
