A FURTHER piece of the V8 Supercars Championship driving puzzle is set tofall into place with Clipsal 500 organisers confirming today that anannouncement of a new driver would occur at the Adelaide Parklands circuittomorrow morning.
A media alert issued by the event's PR staff outlined an announcement wouldbe made at 11:30am (12:00 AEDT) tomorrow .
The release said the announcement would mark 'An important milestone inrelation to South Australian driver participation in V8 Supercars, the world’smost competitive Touring Car Championship.
'The driver in question will be the third South Australian ever to breakinto Championship together with Russell Ingall and Tim Slade.'
The industry rumour mill has long linked Triple Eight's Dunlop V8 Supercarseries ace Scott Pye with the newly formed second seat at Lucas DumbrellMotorsport - itself a Triple Eight customer.
Pye finished second in the 2012 Dunlop series, winning two races and thefinal round of the year in a Monster energy-backed Holden Commodore.
Assuming Pye secures the seat tomorrow, it will mean the top two driversfrom last year’s Dunlop Series will have confirmed ‘main-game’ V8 Supercarseats this season following Scott McLaughlin’s deal with Fujitsu Racing / GarryRogers Motorsport.
Pye, a former British Formula Three champion, fits the mould given he hails from Adelaide and today tweeted via hisofficial account (@Scottpye19) "Got some big news coming soon... watchthis space" - hinting that the announcement would come "within the next 24 Hours."
