Triple Eight and Holden’s most recent Adelaide winner will hit the track for a final time, albeit for a different team.

As previously reported by Supercars.com, James Golding will race a different chassis at the VALO Adelaide 500.

PremiAir Racing has been forced into a chassis swap for Adelaide following Golding’s Gold Coast crash.

Golding crashed out of Race 32 at Surfers Paradise on October 30.

The team moved to shift Golding into chassis 888A-053, which was used as Triple Eight’s Bathurst wildcard car.

PremiAir Racing deemed chassis 888A-044, the crashed car, was too damaged to be repaired in time for Adelaide.

That car has since arrived at PremiAir Racing’s Arundel headquarters, where it is being turned into Golding’s car.

Chassis 888A-053 was on track as recently as last Tuesday at a Sydney Motorsport Park ride day.

Super2 points leader Declan Fraser, who raced the car with Craig Lowndes in Bathurst, drove in Sydney.

Chassis 888A-053 has winning history, being Jamie Whincup’s car between 2019 and 2020.

The chassis won 10 races — six in 2019, and four in 2020.

In the event Fords win both Adelaide races, chassis 888A-053 will remain Holden’s last Adelaide winner.

Whincup won the 2020 season-opening race on the Adelaide streets in chassis 888A-053.

It was his record-extending 11th Adelaide win, and sixth at the circuit in a Commodore.

Whincup won three more races in 888A-053, the last coming on the streets of Townsville.

Triple Eight used the chassis for its Bathurst wildcards in 2021 and 2022.

Holden’s final Supercars races will come in Adelaide next week before the Chevrolet Camaro arrives in 2023.

Golding and Tim Slade will race PremiAir Camaros next season, which will begin in March in Newcastle.

Cars will hit the track in Adelaide next Thursday.
