Aaron Seton says returning his famous family surname to Bathurst is "surreal".

Seton, 24, will make his Great Race debut with Matt Stone Racing in October.

He continues a long line of Setons racing at Mount Panorama after grandfather Barry and father Glenn.

Barry ‘Bo’ Seton won the 1965 Armstrong 500 aboard a Ford Cortina Mk.I GT500 with Midge Bosworth.

Bo, 85, made 22 Great Race starts, and also finished second in 1964.

Son Glenn made his Bathurst debut alongside his father aboard a Ford Capri Mk.III in 1983.

The 1983 race was the only time father and son shared a car at Mount Panorama.

Glenn, 57, was inducted in the Supercars Hall of Fame in 2011, a year after he made his final Bathurst start.

The 1993 and 1997 ATCC champion, Seton scored four Bathurst podiums, but never won the race.

He infamously led late on in 1995, only for his engine to fail just nine laps from the finish.

The family history isn’t lost on Glenn’s son Aaron, who will be the first Seton since 2010 to race in Bathurst.

"It’s very special and surreal to be the third generation Seton to do the Bathurst event," said Seton, who turned 24 on the weekend

"Obviously, my pop won it back in 1965 and then dad came so close in ’95.

"It will be a special moment to go to the event for my first time as a driver and give it a red-hot crack as Jack and I try to aim for that top step."

Aaron’s start will be the 49th by a Seton in Bathurst, adding to Bo’s 22 and Glenn’s 26 starts.

The third-generation racer will step back from working on his Super2 car to fine-tune his preparation for Bathurst.

Seton has raced for MSR in Super2 since 2021.

Le Brocq, who will make his eighth Bathurst start, believes he and Seton can take it to the frontrunners.

"He is a great young fella and I’ve been able to get to know him quite well throughout the year.

"I am looking forward to teaming up with him; third generation Seton in the sport to do Bathurst is pretty cool.

"I reckon we will have a pretty good run."

Seton will resume his Super2 campaign in Townsville this weekend.

Tickets for this year's Repco Bathurst 1000 are on sale now.
