Shane van Gisbergen will again supplement his Supercars commitments with a rally campaign, this time in New Zealand in 2023.
The three-time Supercars champion will compete in four rounds of the 2023 Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship.
Van Gisbergen enjoyed a successful rally season in 2022 away from Supercars, both in Australia and New Zealand.
Notably, he scored an outright Australian Rally Championship podium, and a WRC2 podium at last year’s Repco Rally New Zealand.
Van Gisbergen is determined to add a fourth Supercars title in 2023, but has managed to work four New Zealand rallies into his schedule.
The two-time Bathurst 1000 winner will again compete alongside Glen Weston, starting with the International Rally of Whangarei in May.
He will pilot an Audi AP4 backed by LJ Hooker and Giltrap Group, with the car owned by Dylan Turner.
Van Gisbergen will contest the three final rounds of the championship at Bay of Plenty and two yet-to-be-confirmed locations.
Turner will run the car at Otago this weekend, and will also compete at South Canterbury in June, while Van Gisbergen is racing his Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet Supercar.
“A massive thanks to Dylan – he planned on having an easier year this year so to let us share his car for a few rounds is pretty exciting,” van Gisbergen said.
“Getting to work with him and also Choice Performance Ralliart team again, who I worked with before at Jack’s Ridge, will be awesome.
“The car looks really cool – I am looking forward to it.
“Looking forward to seeing how Dylan goes this weekend at Otago – I will be watching the timing as much as I can in Melbourne.
“I look forward to getting back together with Glen and keeping on learning and getting better.”
Van Gisbergen will continue his 2023 Supercars season at this weekend’s Beaurepaires Melbourne SuperSprint.
The Red Bull Ampol star is 11th in the drivers' standings, 126 points behind leader Chaz Mostert.
