Chaz Mostert has been voted by fans as the Most Popular Driver for the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship.

Mostert was awarded with the honour on Friday at the season-ending VAILO Adelaide 500, ahead of Boost Mobile Qualifying for Race 23.

It was a breakout year for the Walkinshaw Andretti United star, who won three races and challenged for the drivers' championship for the balance of the season.

It’s the first Most Popular Driver victory for Mostert, with the award first handed out in 2013. The award is voted on by the fans via an online poll on Supercars.com.

“Our sport’s only as good as what our fans are in supporting us,” an overwhelmed Mostert said on the broadcast.

“I’ve had a lot of terrible races this year, and the fans coming up at signings, wearing your shirt, especially the little kids, it melts your heart.

“It puts your head right back in the game. I use the fans as my fuel in this sport, they make the bad days in racing really good.

“Thanks very much, thanks to Supercars, and thanks to the fans.”

Shane van Gisbergen won the award three times between 2021 and 2023, with Scott McLaughlin the winner between 2017 and 2019.

Craig Lowndes won the first four awards between 2013 and 2016.
