Wednesday was a big day for Eggleston Motorsport driver Cameron Crick, who got behind the wheel of a Gen3 Supercar for the first time.
Crick, who is racing for the title-winning Eggleston team in the Dunlop Series, lapped a Matt Stone Racing Chevrolet Camaro.
The former Toyota 86 and V8 SuperUte driver is currently in his second season in Super2.
Crick helped MSR on its ride day at Queensland Raceway, with Triple Eight Race Engineering and Dick Johnson Racing also on track.
Eggleston teammate Kai Allen lapped a Gen3 DJR Mustang, with Gomersall Motorsport driver and third-generation talent Aaron Seton also on track.
Seton notably took father Glenn, a two-time Australian Touring Car Championship winner, for a hot lap in his Gomersall ZB Commodore.
Crick’s laps came after MSR co-driver Jayden Ojeda was absent due to his involvement in a Mercedes Young Driver Test.
Ojeda’s vacancy ensured Crick became the latest Dunlop Series driver to sample a Gen3 Supercar, with Zak Best, Jack Perkins and Aaron Love all racing in this year’s enduros.
Earlier this year, Crick’s Eggleston teammate Cooper Murray and Image Racing driver Jay Hanson sampled an Erebus Camaro in an evaluation day. Walkinshaw Andretti United rookie Ryan Wood also cut laps in a WAU Ford at Winton.
Love and Wood will graduate to the main game with Blanchard Racing Team and WAU next year.
The 2023 Dunlop Series will conclude at the VAILO Adelaide 500 on November 23-26, with Best leading Allen by 30 points.
