Amid victory celebrations for Erebus Motorsport at the Repco Bathurst 1000, Red Bull Ampol Racing managed to clinch its record-extending 12th teams' championship.

Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood raced to a famous Great Race win on Sunday, with Broc Feeney/Jamie Whincup and Will Brown/Scott Pye second and third.

The double podium pushed the powerhouse Triple Eight Race Engineering squad 1225 points clear of nearest rival Tickford Racing ahead of the final two rounds.

With a maximum 1152 points on offer at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 and VAILO Adelaide 500, Triple Eight has an unassailable lead, barring penalties.

On a day Erebus took out the biggest race of the year, Triple Eight can at least bask in taking the championship back from the team, which won both titles in 2023.

Triple Eight has now won 12 of the last 17 teams' title dating back to its maiden triumph in 2008.

Regardless, while disappointed to miss out on the win on Sunday, Feeney said the Kostecki/Hazelwood car was the benchmark when it mattered.

“It feels it feels good to be on the podium. Obviously, you want to win," Feeney said.

"So, we’ve come up a bit short today, but as I said to the team, I certainly drove my heart out, out there. I'm absolutely knackered.

"I haven’t driven so hard and as Brodie said, so fast for so many laps. We didn't make any mistakes today. We tried our hardest, and we've come up a bit short."

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on October 25-27. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
