Supercar drivers and teams have sent messages of support to communities affected by worsening flooding.

The flood crisis continues to worsen across the east coast, impacting hundreds of thousands of Australians.

Floodwaters have devastated parts of Brisbane and Lismore, with the weather cell tracking down the east coast.

Drivers and teams have arrived in Sydney for this weekend’s season opener.

There, Gold Coast-based driver Chaz Mostert shared his message to affected fans.

"We are seeing a lot of what is going on in Queensland and New South Wales at the moment, so mainly my heart goes out to them," Mostert said.

"I’m thinking of those two states at the moment going through tough times.”

Grove Racing recruit Lee Holdsworth shared Mostert’s sentiment.

"I’m really sorry for everyone up north in Queensland or Brisbane and also to people in Sydney," Holdsworth told Supercars.com.

"There's bigger things to worry about at the moment than what we've got going on here.

"But we will try to put on a good show for everyone this weekend.”

The Shell V-Power Racing Team was unable to access its Stapylton-based workshop earlier this week, with floodwaters cutting off road access.

"The flooding situation in Queensland and New South Wales is heartbreaking to witness and our thoughts and best wishes are with those facing a major clean-up,” team principal Ben Croke said.

Western Sydney-born James Courtney unveiled his new livery on Thursday morning, and took the opportunity to share his message to fans.

"It's sad to see what's going on all over the country not only just here in Western Sydney and back home in Queensland,” the 2010 champion said.

"It's craziness that the floods have affected so many people, and to see them losing so much, it's heartbreaking to see.

"It’s crippling to see so many people hurting, but hopefully on the weekend we can put on a little bit of a show and cheer up some people that are having down times.”

Will Brown said he was comforted to see the community spirit shown by many Australians.

"Hope everyone's staying safe in all the flooded areas up in Queensland and New South Wales,” the Erebus Motorsport driver said.

"It’s very sad to see what's happening and hopefully everyone has been really kind to their loved ones and looking after each other.

"It's great to see some of the awesome stories coming out of community of everyone helping out.

"I know a lot of people affected in Lismore, Brisbane and Toowoomba where I live, it effects early everyone.

"It's just awesome to see everyone in the community helping out."
