More racing at dark will feature in upcoming LIQUI MOLYBathurst 12 Hour.

The race, which will take place on May 15, will commence at its earliest ever start time.

The once-around-the-clock race will commence at 5:15am AEST at Mount Panorama.

It will finish at 5:13pm AEST plus one lap.

This year's 12 Hour will also be run with a revised class structure.

The last five editions of the race commenced at 5:45pm AEDT. Typically, that enabled roughly 45 minutes of pre-sunrise racing. That will almost double in 2022.

It comes with the event held later than ever; the 12 Hour's traditional date is in February, which is in daylight savings time.

The May 13-15 event will not be daylight savings time; roughly the first 90 minutes of the race will take place before sunrise.

The sun will also set around 5:00pm AEST, meaning the race will finish at dusk.

The latest the race has ever started was in 2013, when it commenced at 7:00am and finished in near darkness.

The 2023 event will return to its traditional February slot.

The full weekend schedule for the 2022 event will be released soon. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
