Engineer change for James Courtney in Sydney
Matt Saunders replaces Raymond Lau on #7 Mustang
Courtney is 18th in points heading to home round
James Courtney will have a new Race Engineer for his home round at Sydney Motorsport Park, following a pre-round change by the Blanchard Racing Team.
Matt Saunders will engineer the #7 Snowy River Caravans Ford Mustang in Sydney, replacing Raymond Lau.
Lau and Saunders joined BRT this year, with Lau following Courtney to the Ford team from Tickford Racing.
Saunders arrived at BRT on the eve of the 2024 season, having completed stints at Matt Stone Racing and Team 18 last year.
Notably, Saunders stepped in for the absent Jack Bellotti in Darwin last June, and delivered a shock pole-to-win performance for Jack Le Brocq. He then engineered Mark Winterbottom for the final two rounds of the 2023 season after the departure of Manuel Sanchez.
Courtney and Lau had combined for two top 10s in 14 starts over the first six rounds, with the highlight a shock third in the second Townsville Top Ten Shootout.
Lau previously engineered Thomas Randle's Ford at Tickford in 2022 and 2023, before stepping aside for the final rounds as he shifted to BRT.
It's not the first in-season engineering change this year, with Ludo Lacroix stepping up on Tim Slade's #23 PremiAir Nulon Camaro following the departure of Mirko De Rosa.
Sydney action will commence on Friday, with 200km races to be held on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are on sale now.
