There will be a familiar face returning to the Cash Converters Supercars Eseries with James Golding confirmed to contest the six-round season, while popular Dunlop Super2 Series rookie Matthew McLean will also join the field.

Golding who will co-drive with Team 18 in this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000, will represent Jands, a distribution giant of world’s leading audio, lighting and staging brands across Australia, in the Pioneer DJ Racing entry for the All Star Eseries.

Jands has confirmed a four-car team in this year’s online competition, with two All Star series entries and two Pro Series drivers.

Pro gamer Simon Feigl is set to represent Shure Racing in the Pro Series alongside Corey Shepherd for Pioneer DJ Racing.

After using downtime during lockdown to become an aspiring DJ, Golding admitted the partnership with Pioneer DJ Racing is fortuitous.

“It’s great to get the opportunity to be back in the Supercars Eseries again,” said the 25-year-old.

“I had a wildcard in the series last time for Team 18 and ran in the Pro Series, which I really enjoyed.

“Bathurst is going to be a highlight for me, I love to drive around it whether virtually or in real life.

“It’s also cool to be with Pioneer DJ, I’ve started DJing over the last couple of years, as something to learn during COVID.

“I’ve had a few gigs on and off in between lockdowns in Victoria, so it’s really cool to have a sponsor to represent something that I love to do outside of racing as well.”

Golding is set to return to the Supercars field for this year’s Great Race at Mount Panorama after he finished eighth at Bathurst alongside Mark Winterbottom in the IRWIN Racing Commodore in 2020.

Leading Dunlop Super2 Series rookie Matt McLean will also complete in the All-Star series in the Shure Racing backed Commodore

A professional musician away from racing, Super2 talent McLean is keen to get back into online racing with a sponsor that supports him both on and off track.

“I’m really excited to partner with Shure for the Supercars Eseries,” said McLean.

“It’s a brand I’m really passionate about given my band The Crookeds use their microphones for both in-studio and on-stage action.

“I’m a Super2 driver, not a NASCAR one but running the oval circuits is going to be interesting for fans, as it will be one big draft pack.

The Eggleston Motorsport driver has continued to impress in his debut Dunlop Super2 Series season, taking out Rookie of the Round across all three events in 2021.

The opening round at Mount Panorama saw the 24-year-old record the second-fastest time in practice, before placing sixth and fifth respectively to end the opening round as the highest-placed rookie.

In Townsville in July McLean again impressed, finishing eighth in both races of the NTI Townsville 500 and backing it up with two sixth placings at the WD-40 Townsville SuperSprint a week later.

He currently sits fifth in the overall standings of the development series.

The easily recognisable McLean is keen to fire up his simulator again after racing online in his formative years.

“I did a fair bit of iRacing when I was younger but got a lot of experience with it as I used to race daily, so I’m looking forward to getting back into it.

“I think it will be tough competition, main game drivers got to compete last year, so they already have good form.

“I can’t wait for the Bathurst enduro and it’s more a layout I’m used to and teaming up with the Pro Series is great, as those guys are really fast and maybe even faster than the Supercars drivers.

Golding and McLean join a list of current Repco Supercars Championship drivers already confirmed for the Cash Converters six-round Eseries which will start on August 25.

The Eseries will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, 7Plus, as well as streamed on Supercars’ Twitch, Facebook and YouTube channels.
