Current and former champions have handed the Gen3 prototypes their first taste of Symmons Plains.
Shane van Gisbergen and Marcos Ambrose took to the prototype Camaro and Mustang respectively.
Van Gisbergen and Ambrose completed the shakedown in front of Supercars technical staff and respective team personnel.
It marked Ambrose's first laps of the prototype Mustang, with van Gisbergen previously sampling the Camaro in testing.
The duo traded following stints around the circuit before returning to pit lane.
Van Gisbergen and Ambrose then debriefed with technical staff, including category motorsport head Adrian Burgess.
Both cars have been fitted with the title-winning numbers of Ambrose and Garth Tander, who will drive the car later on Friday.
The Mustang has been fitted with the #4 Ambrose carried to his 2003 title, with the Camaro wearing Tander's 2007 title-winning #16.
The shakedown comes on the eve of the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint, which is the second round of the 2022 season.
The cars will later return to the circuit for ride laps.
"There's plenty of speed in the car," Ambrose said.
"It was pretty exciting to see the car go that hard so quickly.
"I was very comfortable in the car, so they've sorted out the ergonomic issues.
"The power felt old school V8 to me, it felt old school Supercar to me. It was great."
The Gen3 ruleset will make its debut in the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship.
