Declan Fraser has claimed a maiden Super pole at a sodden Sydney Motorsport Park.

The Triple Eight recruit clocked a 1:42.538s in the 15-minute session to secure his first Dunlop Series pole.

Fraser will share the front row for Sunday’s Race 2 with former Triple Eight driver Angelo Mouzouris.

Super2 and Super3 runners shared the track for the session, which was called early following an off for Chris Smerdon.

Smerdon fired off at Turn 1 after running off-line alongside Zak Best.

Best began the session with the fastest standing time before he spun at Turn 2.

Eggleston Super3 driver Kai Allen threatened to steal pole with a 1:42.941s before the Super2 drivers turned the knife.

Allen, however, will start an impressive fifth with only Fraser, Mouzouris, Cameron Hill and Tyler Everingham.

Best ended up eighth behind Matt Payne and Thomas Maxwell, with Brad Vaughan and Zane Morse rounding out the top 10.

Race 1 winner Jaylyn Robotham was just the 11th quickest Super2 driver.

Fraser, who moved to Triple Eight to MW Motorsport in the off-season, was delighted to secure a first-up pole for his new team.

"It's crazy out there," Fraser said.

"To come away with my first ever pole... can't wait for the race, it's going to be awesome.

"We had a really good race car yesterday... hopefully we can continue the pace in the rain."

The 18-lap Race 2 is scheduled to start at 1:10pm AEDT on Sunday. CLICK HERE to view the race schedule.
