Ford CEO Jim Farley has enjoyed a day out in Australia, headlined by seat time in a Gen3 Mustang Supercar, with Tickford Racing star Cam Waters.
Global Ford boss Farley is in Australia, and completed a number of visits during his time Down Under.
Notably, Farley visited the F-150 re-manufacturing facility, met with the Ford engineering team, and listed the newly-opened National Parts Distribution Centre. He also met with employees and leaders from across the Ford business.
Come Tuesday, and Farley ventured out to Calder Park Raceway and spent time with Ford Australia partners, including all five Ford Supercar race teams.
There, he drove a Tickford Racing Gen3 Mustang Supercar.
Farley was joined by the likes of Kay Hart, President of Ford International Markets Group, and Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsport.
Eight 2024 Ford drivers, being Waters, Chaz Mostert, Thomas Randle, James Courtney, Matt Payne, Anton De Pasquale, Will Davison and rookie Aaron Love were at Calder for the day.
“It’s a great race car so much more fun than the modern race cars I’ve driven,” said Farley, who has also previously lapped a Gen2 Mustang.
Farley has also shared seat time in a Supercar with the likes of Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo and Hollywood TV star Jimmy Fallon.
Waters was impressed by Farley’s driving skills, saying: “He did awesome.
“It blew me away how good he was behind the wheel, he picked it up so quickly. He’s obviously done a lot of racing himself.
“After the first lap, I wasn’t worried at all. I actually enjoyed behind beside him and watching him creep up on it. [He] had a few moments, which he sorted."
Ford won the final four races of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship, with Waters winning on the Gold Coast and Adelaide. Penrite Racing also won courtesy of David Reynolds and rookie Payne.
The Blue Oval will be represented by 10 cars across five teams in 2024, with Tickford Racing, Dick Johnson Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Penrite Racing and Blanchard Racing Team to race Gen3 Mustangs.
The new season will commence at the Thrifty Bathurst 500 on February 23-25. Tickets are on sale now.
