Kai Allen Commodore rebuilt by Erebus chassis guru
Renowned fabricator James White repaired Allen Holden
White has built two Bathurst winners, championship winner
Kai Allen will race a rebuilt Holden Commodore in his bid to claim consecutive Super2 titles, following repairs undertaken in his hometown.
The teenager, who will rise to the main game with Grove Racing next year, suffered two big crashes in Bathurst last month.
The Triple Eight-built ZB Commodore, which is run by Melbourne-based Eggleston Motorsport, suffered significant damage in qualifying and race crashes.
Allen first crashed in Race 1 qualifying, with the team turning around an on-site repair in time for the race.
One day later, Allen crashed out of Race 2, ceding the Super2 points lead to Walkinshaw Andretti United driver Zach Bates.
After Bathurst. the damaged Commodore was sent to the Mount Gambier workshop of renowned fabricator James White, who has built chassis for Erebus Motorsport since 2017.
White has notably built the Bathurst-winning cars from 2017 and 2024, and the championship winners from 2023.
Allen himself required running repairs, having sprained the AC joint in his left shoulder during his Bathurst qualifying crash.
"Yeah it is, look last year with [Zak] Besty, I think I was 30 behind, this time I'm only 42 behind, so it can happen. As you've seen this weekend, anything can happen with me, so who knows?" said Allen in Bathurst.
"Adelaide's pretty cruel, I lost the Super3 Series that was unlosable [in 2022], so we'll see how we go, but I'm excited to get down there."
"The Eggleston guys are going to rebuild the car and it's going to be brand new, so hopefully we've got some serious speed there and can put the pressure on and anything can happen."
The Eggleston squad hailed White’s efforts, posting to social media: "It’s been a huge job for everyone to turn Car #1 around after Bathurst.
"James White and his crew are without doubt one of the best in the business and made this chassis repair possible and got it done in a very tight turn around with incredible craftsmanship.
"Thank you guys. The #1 will be back fighting for the title in two weeks time in Adelaide.”
Allen is 42 points behind leader Bates heading to the VAILO Adelaide 500 on November 14-17.
