Erebus Motorsport has been forced into pre-qualifying repairs following a Brodie Kostecki practice crash.

Kostecki bowled a wide at the high-speed final corner and surfed through the grass.

The #99 Boost Mobile Commodore grazed the barrier, and the left-rear wing endplate was shorn off the car.

Kostecki managed to avoid further damage as he corrected and ran through boarding.

The 24-year-old returned his car to the lane, where mechanics quickly got to work.

The team has just 90 minutes before three-part ARMOR ALL Qualifying.

The ITM Auckland SuperSprint is Kostecki’s first racing visit to Pukekoke.

It hasn’t started to plan, with Kostecki critical of his own error.

“Bloody silly, actually,” he said.

“We were starting to get somewhere with the car.

“Just made a pretty big mistake on my part through the left-hander.

“Got too much kerb, and sort of lost it between both corners.”

Kostecki ended up 18th, with Will Davison fastest overall.

Kostecki’s cousin Jake, who races out of Tickford, also came to grief in the 30-minute session.

The #56 TRADIE Ford found the Turn 3/4 barriers after just 10 minutes.

He ended up one position behind his cousin, who is confident his crew will get the job done in time for qualifying.

Speaking about the damage, Brodie said: “It broke a left-rear toe link. Thankfully it’s not that bad.

“A bit of work for the boys prior to qualifying is not a good thing.

“We’re driving to millimetres coming up to the grass.

"You know it was sort of a bit out of control prior to the corner, so I was just trying to manage it.

"I knew I was in trouble pretty early and tried to keep it off the wall, and thankfully only got the left-rear.

“It’s only one corner they have to fix, it’s better than all four, so we’ll put it back together and see how we go.”

Cars will return to the circuit for three-part ARMOR ALL Qualifying at 2:00pm local time/4:00pm AEST.

The 41-lap Race 27 will commence at 4:40pm local time/2:20pm AEST.
