Luff and Tander on practice crash

Holden Racing Team co-driver Warren Luff is ok after a massive crash in morning practice at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 that saw the #2 Commodore hard into the tyres and roll onto its roof.

Luff said he had no brakes coming into turn two at Mount Panorama, and clipped his 2013 Bathurst partner Craig Lowndes, who's Commodore also has substantial damage.

"The [brake] pedal's gone all the way to the floor," Luff said after getting back to the HRT garage.

"Full credit to these guys, the strength of these cars is amazing. I'm fine, just very disappointed for the team and those guys up the road -a big thanks to Craig for helping get me out the car, that was great...

"I had pedal in the pit box ... something's gone wrong, we need to figure it out."

After getting out of his Red Bull Holden, Lowndes ran to Luff's car, after seeing it on its roof and assisted his former co-driver out the car.

Now, HRT will need to assess whether the car will be repairable for this afternoon's ARMOR ALL Top 10 Shootout - or even tomorrow's race.

"I'm just gutted for the whole team," Luff said.

"It's been a big week obviously did some repairs the other night after garth on Thursday feel for the guys hopefully we can get it back together and get it out there tomorrow."

Championship #2 driver Garth Tander said he was just glad to see his co-driver unharmed after the violent crash.

"Luffy was on the radio straight away, saying he's okay," Tander said.

"The important thing to come out of that is Luffy's fine, Craig's okay and they both got out pretty much by themselves, so as far what actually happened - the telemetry is inconclusive, they obviously haven't downloaded the data yet, so Wazza didn't really say anything he just said he's alright.

"We'll have to look at the car when it gets back obviously but the great thing is that all the safety structures did all their jobs, like the tyre barrier everything inside the car kept Wazza safe so that's the most important thing. We'll have a look whether we can fix the car, but that's secondary right now, it's just making sure Wazza's okay."

Five minutes remain in morning practice with Jonathon Webb leading Jason Bright on the times.
