More penalties issued for Gold Coast pit lane breaches
WAU, DJR fined, docked teams' points after Saturday race
Tickford, DJR cop identical penalties on Saturday night
Walkinshaw Andretti United and Dick Johnson Racing have been fined and docked teams’ championship points over pit lane operational breaches.
Tickford Racing and DJR were fined $1500 and received 30 teams’ championship points penalties following Saturday’s race, following a post-race investigation.
The Cam Waters, Thomas Randle and Will Davison cars were all sanctioned, but the race result remained unchanged.
On Sunday morning, it surfaced that both WAU cars and Anton De Pasquale’s car had also been hit with the same penalties over an identical breach.
Per stewards reports, wheels located on the fast lane side of the car had not been within the area between the axle centre lines of the car pitting.
"Confirming Cars 2, 25 and 11 have received penalties for the pit lane operational breaches,” a Motorsport Australia spokesperson said.
"Each car has received a 30 Teams Championship penalty and a fine of $1500 for a breach of Rule D11.1.3.3 a)."
The double penalty for DJR has seen Grove Racing jump ahead of them in the teams standings, with the Melbourne operation now nine points ahead of the Stapylton team in fourth.
Waters, Mostert and Wood all qualified for Sunday’s Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout, with Randle 11th, De Pasquale 14th and Davison 22nd.
The fastest 10 drivers will return for the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout at 11:35am local time/12:35pm AEDT, which will set the grid for Race 22 at 2:15pm local/3:15pm AEDT.
