Chaz Mostert has been fined for causing a multi-car incident that took him out of the Bathurst 12 Hour.
Mostert has been docked $2,000, with $1,000 suspended, following an investigation into the incident.
The crash, which occurred with two-and-a-half hours remaining, saw fifth-placed Mostert make contact with Kevin Estre’s Craft Bamboo Porsche as the Australian tried to pass around the outside at Forrest’s Elbow.
Although Estre continued, the ensuing melee caused significant damage to Steven Kane’s Bentley and took Mostert’s Schnitzer BMW and the Class B On-Track Motorsport Porsche out completely.
It was a sorry end to an otherwise sterling run from Mostert, who scored pole on Saturday and dominated the early stages of the race.
Mostert said he was "gutted" by the incident, explaining that a lack of straight-line speed meant he had to take his chances in lapped traffic.
