Momentum is building towards the debut of a new Perth street circuit round, which is slated to debut in the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship.

The new circuit, which is set to be based nearby the city’s Swan River and Crown Casino, would become the latest blockbuster street track to host Supercars, with drivers excited by the plans.

Currently, there are major events held on the streets of Townsville, Gold Coast and Adelaide, with the latter set to close out the 2024 season on November 14-17.

Last weekend’s Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 attracted a massive crowd of 197,949, with the Surfers Paradise round Queensland’s largest annual sporting event.

The next chapter is slated to be written in 2026, with the West Aussie capital — home to 2.1 million people — to bring Supercars to metropolitan Perth in the same year Toyota joins the championship.

“Perth is coming along really well,” Supercars Chief Operating Officer Tim Watsford said.

“All the stakeholders are aligned and we’re building towards something very special there.” The Hon. Rita Saffioti, WA Tourism Minister hailed the existing CARCO.com.au Raceway, with the famous Wanneroo circuit hosting nearly 100 championship races.

The historic Wanneroo track will return in 2025 on June 6-8, before the Burswood track commences a new era for the championship, one which will take Supercars to the “next level.”

“Imagine the noise, atmosphere and crowds as V8s fly around a new and specially-designed race track in Burswood Park, just a stone’s throw from the city. It’ll be incredible,” Saffioti said.

“Motorsport fans are an enthusiastic and passionate bunch, and I know people locally have been wanting a street circuit to happen for some time now, particularly when they’ve seen similar ones built in other cities across the country.

“The Supercars SuperSprint at Wanneroo has been a much-loved event on the annual tourism calendar for many years now, and this new track will no doubt take it to the next level on a much bigger stage for more fans and visitors to enjoy.

“We’re very keen to make Perth one of the major event capitals of the South East Asian region. Building a street circuit right next to our world-class Optus Stadium will certainly build on that reputation and keep attracting visitors from all over the country to WA.”

Tickets for the season-ending VAILO Adelaide 500, and the majority of 2025 Supercars events, are now on sale.
