MSR offers sneak peek of new Nick Percat chassis
Sandown debut slated for new Camaro Supercar
Team expect build to be complete before Tasmania
Matt Stone Racing has revealed progress of a new Chevrolet Camaro Supercar chassis, which is set to debut at the upcoming Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
MSR has been building a Camaro this year, with an eye on running the car as a wildcard.
The car, chassis MSR-005, is now set to debut at the hands of Nick Percat and co-driver Dylan O’Keeffe at Sandown on September 13-15, the first enduro of the season.
Team owner Stone expects the car to be complete before the upcoming round in Tasmania, before it completes a pre-Sandown test day.
"The build of MSR-005, our third Gen3 Supercar chassis, is progressing well,” Stone said.
"Despite a busy calendar, the team has made solid progress in the break between rounds, with the front and rear clip now on, and the Chevrolet engine bolted in as well.
"We expect the build to be 90 percent complete by the time we head to Tasmania, with just the drivetrain to swap over after the Symmons Plains round ahead of a planned Sandown debut for MSR-005.”
Stone also revealed plans to build a new chassis for Cameron Hill, albeit for the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship.
MSR has campaigned the same two chassis, MSR-003 and MSR-004, since the Gen3 era began last March.
"Another new chassis will then be built to cycle in as Car #4, which will be debuted by Cameron Hill in 2025,” Stone added.
Percat and Hill are ninth and 16th in the championship heading to the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint on August 16-18. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
