Grove Racing has one eye on Gen3 and 2023 with its latest personnel acquisition.

The newly rebranded Penrite Racing team announced the appointment of Stephen Robertson.

The experienced Robertson will be project manager of the Grove Supercars team.

Robertson arrives from Porsche Motorsport Australia where he was the sporting and technical manager for six years.

He also has previous experience in Supercars.

Robertson, another key hire under the team’s sole Grove ownership, will skipper the team’s Gen3 programme. He will also help develop team infrastructure.

It comes after the team sealed major coups in the signing of driver Lee Holdsworth and engineer David Cauchi.

Holdsworth arrives with a Bathurst victory in tow, having missed a full-time drive in 2021.

Cauchi, most recently Shane van Gisbergen’s race engineer, will arrive midway through 2022 as team principal.

The Groves also secured Penrite as major backer of both Fords.

The team, under its previous Kelly ownership, has been running Ford Mustangs since 2020.

It previously campaigned with four Nissan Altimas between 2013 and 2019.

Grove Racing has yet to commit to a manufacturer for Gen3’s 2023 debut, although it previously released Gen3 Mustang renders.

"I am delighted to welcome Stephen to Penrite Racing,” team owner Stephen Grove said.

"We’re excited that someone of his calibre will head up this programme for us, making sure we are able to hit the ground running into 2023 and beyond.”

The Penrite Mustangs will tackle pre-season testing at Winton next weekend.
