Red Bull Racing Australia has signed three-time Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 winner Steven Richards in a two-year deal to join Craig Lowndes for the 2014 and 2015 endurance events.
Richards, who won at Mount Panorama last year, will partner Lowndes behind the wheel of the #888 Holden VF Commodore for the duration of the 2014 and 2015 PIRTEK Enduro Cups, which will see them join forces at the Wilson Security Sandown 500, the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600.
“It’s great to announce that I’ll be driving with Red Bull Racing Australia and Triple Eight Race Engineering for two seasons,” Richards said.
“I'm really looking forward to next year and it’ll be fantastic partnering Craig, one of the strongest endurance drivers in Australian touring car history.”
Red Bull Racing Australia Team Principal Roland Dane is delighted to have Richards onboard.
“He has a wealth of experience that is invaluable during these intense races,” Dane said.
“With three Bathurst 1000 wins under his belt, he’s the perfect driver to partner Craig next year, and his win this season at the Mountain proved that he’s got what it takes to deliver us the best results possible.”
Paul Dumbrell will also be joining Red Bull Racing Australia for a third year. After partnering five-time V8 Supercars Champion Jamie Whincup to a Bathurst win in 2012 and victory at the Sandown 500 this year, he’s thrilled to be joining the Brisbane-based team again.
“To be joining Red Bull Racing Australia and Jamie again next year is fantastic. We’ve had a really good run together and I’m looking forward to trying to continue that,” Dumbrell said.
“I can’t wait to have a stab at winning back our Bathurst crown!”
