Nissan Motorsport V8 Supercars driver Rick Kelly is the face of a series of commercials promoting the Nissan Altima.
Kelly – a two-time Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 winner and former V8 Supercars Champion – is the star of five clips, which mix his dry humour with details of the refinement and technology packed into the Altima.
The Nissan Altima sedan goes on-sale for the first time in the Australian market from the first week of December 2013, following critical acclaim and sales success overseas, particularly in the United States.
The Altima name is already well-known to Australians as a result of Nissan’s factory entry in V8 Supercars, which saw the new-to-2013 V8 Supercars debut on the race track at the Clipsal 500.
“Having driven the Altima V8 Supercar for a full year, it’s great that people will have the opportunity to own their own road version,” Kelly said.
Kelly was at the global unveiling of the Altima at the 2012 New York International Motor Show and part of the car’s Australian media launch last month.
He enjoyed the unique experience of filming the Altima commercials, which were shot at Nissan Motorsport’s state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne, Victoria.
“It was a lot of fun to film these Altima commercials with Nissan, right on the car preparation floor of the Nissan Motorsport workshop,” Kelly said.
“It’s the same place we have been building and preparing our four Nissan Altima V8 Supercars for the last 12 months, so it was something very different to be filming with the road car, surrounded by a film crew rather than our team of engineers and mechanics.”
The V8 Supercars will hit the track for the final time this weekend at the Sydney NRMA Motoring and Services 500. Tickets are still available for the event at Sydney Olympic Park.
