Roll call: Supercars Albert Park winners

06 Apr 2022
Albert Park has been tough to tame over the years

Albert Park has hosted Supercars since the Melbourne venue debuted on the Formula 1 calendar in 1996.

A total of 76 Supercars races have been held at the Grand Prix circuit.

This weekend's Beaurepaires Melbourne 400 will be the 25th appearance by Supercars, but only the fourth for points.

The Albert Park round became a championship event in 2018, with Holden's ZB Commodore winning three of four races.

That ledger turned in 2019, with Ford's new Mustang winning all four races.

It's an overall lopsided winning history, with Holden winning 49 races to Ford's 26.

Notably, Commodores won 17 races in a row between 1996 and 2001, despite a Falcon winning the very first race.

That honour went to Glenn Seton in 1996; that race also holds the record for the closest winning margin in a Supercars Albert Park race.

Russell Ingall's eight overall wins remain a Supercars record, although two active drivers could surpass him this weekend.

Shane van Gisbergen and Mark Winterbottom have each won seven races at Albert Park.

Scott McLaughlin won three races in 2019

The twist? Neither driver has won a championship race at the circuit.

Winterbottom's last Albert Park wins came in 2015, and van Gisbergen in 2016. Both drivers won the title in the respective years.
