The Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland will unfold on the streets in just over a week's time.
The unique track is a hybrid of street and permanent circuit and this year, with overhauls to benefit fans and make the event more enjoyable, the V8 Supercars racing is sure to be spectacular.
"The amazing north Queensland weather has meant we are well ahead of schedule and the site is looking incredible," Castrol Townsville 500 event manager Rachael White said.
"The grandstands are nearly all built and ready to go. They're all in prime viewing spots; it really is the best way to view the racing action. There are still some fantastic seats available, but they aregetting snapped up quite quickly, so don't hesitate!"
One of the key new elements, the Super Top - which will stage the sensational Saturday night concert, starring Jessica Mauboy and Vanessa Amorosi - begins construction today.
"The Super Top will take about three days to put up," White explained.
"The construction team started marking up the space last night and today we will see it starting to take shape. It's quite an impressive structure that can accommodate 8000 people underneath. It will make the site something else; offer plenty of shade and become a huge asset to the event."
The V8 Supercars transporters are set to roll into the circuit on Wednesday after the parade in town, which begins as 12pm - more details here.
Teams will set up Thursday and the action will commence on Friday, with three practice sessions and a range of entertaining support categories on track.
"We are delighted with how it is coming along," White said.
"The sun is out, the grass is green and it's a fantastic 25 degrees; it couldn't have come together better."
