Dunlop Super2 Series eligibility confirmed for 2023

Supercars can confirm the ZB Commodore and Car of the Future Ford Mustang will be the only models eligible to compete for the 2023 Dunlop Super2 Series following a ruling by the Supercars’ Commission.

The decision was made following discussions with current competitors and owners around the technical makeup of the 2023 Dunlop Super2 and Super3 Series.

Supercars Head of Motorsport Adrian Burgess explained the decision: "Over recent months we held discussions with various stakeholders, and it became apparent that this decision would align with the technical configuration of both Dunlop Series’ moving forward.

"It was unanimously agreed that this was the best decision to ensure the Dunlop Series’ remain the key pathway to the Repco Supercars Championship and we can now move forward with planning for the 2023 series.

The decision means the vehicle eligibility for the 2023 Dunlop Series will officially be:

Dunlop Super2 Series

  • Car of the Future ZB Commodore

  • Car of the Future Ford Mustang

Dunlop Super3 Series

  • Car of the Future VF Commodore

  • Car of the Future FGX Falcon

  • Car of the Future Nissan Altima

  • Project Blueprint FG Falcon

  • Project Blueprint VE Commodore

  • Car of the Future Mercedes E63 AMG

  • Car of the Future Volvo S60

Both the Dunlop Super2 Series and Dunlop Super3 Series will continue to race on a combined grid in 2023.

The combined Dunlop Super2 and Dunlop Super3 Series will return to racing this weekend at the Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint where a record of 35 entrants will feature on the combined grid.

Declan Fraser, who will partner with the great Craig Lowndes at this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 currently leads the Dunlop Super2 Series standings.

Teenager Kai Allen leads the Dunlop Super3 standings.

The event will be broadcast live on Foxtel and streamed live on Kayo with highlights on the Seven Network.
