Antonio Molluso's Dunlop Series debut weekend has come to an early end due to a mechanical issue at Sandown.

Molluso was making his Super3 debut in an Image Racing-run Ford FG Falcon, having recently prepared for the weekend at Sandown in the National Sport Sedans category.

However, Molluso's Dunlop Series debut lasted just one session into the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 weekend, which began on Friday.

A braking issue set of a chain reaction that ultimately led the team to withdraw from the weekend's action and preserve the engine in the Ford.

"Due to mechanical failures in practice one, unfortunately we are unable to participate in the remainder of the weekend," the Molluso team posted to social media.

Image is campaigning a Holden VF Commodore for Tony Auddino this weekend, with former TCR Australia contender Bailey Sweeny to debut in Bathurst.

Super2 points leader Kai Allen topped both Dunlop Series practice sessions on Friday, with track action resuming with Boost Mobile Qualifying on Saturday morning.
