The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship is switching to enduro mode, with the field expanding to 26 cars, with 52 drivers set for the biggest races of the season.
The next two events will see drivers and teams tackle 1500km of racing across two starts, beginning with this weekend's Penrite Oil Sandown 500, followed by the Repco Bathurst 1000.
It's a star-studded field, with eight former Sandown winners and 10 former Bathurst winners to tackle the two races. There will be eight Sandown debutants, and six Bathurst debutants. Click here to view the whole field.
However, there is just one pairing with two Sandown winners, and one pairing with two Bathurst winners. In a Supercars.com poll, those two combinations came out on top.
Chaz Mostert and Lee Holdsworth came out on top in your voting, with 23% of the vote. Mostert and Holdsworth won the 2021 Bathurst 1000, and finished fourth last year. Mostert is the form driver in the championship, with Holdsworth arguably the star co-driver in recent years.
Mostert/Holdsworth won the vote ahead of 2023 Sandown winners Broc Feeney/Jamie Whincup (21%), with Ford pairings completing the top five.
2023 Bathurst podium finishers Anton De Pasquale/Tony D'Alberto (13%) were third ahead of Cam Waters/James Moffat (12%), with Waters/Moffat second in 2021, and third in 2022.
Rounding out the top five is the highly-fancied Matt Payne/Garth Tander combination (8%). The fans know their stuff, with the top four pairings in the poll unchanged from last year.
Sixth was championship leader Will Brown, who will race with two-time Bathurst runner-up Scott Pye.
Here’s how the voting broke down amongst the top five:
Chaz Mostert/Lee Holdsworth, 23%
Broc Feeney/Jamie Whincup, 21%
Anton De Pasquale/Tony D'Alberto, 13%
Cam Waters/James Moffat, 12%
Matt Payne/Garth Tander, 8%
