The 2003 and 2004 champion, who shifted to NASCAR after his Supercars departure, will re-join the Supercars field at virtual Montreal, as well as Watkins Glen where he won his first NASCAR race in 2008.
“I’m excited to be returning to the Watkins Glen International track in a Pirtek Mustang for the Eseries. I have fond memories of this track,” Ambrose said.
Having last competed alongside the Supercars field of drivers in 2015, Ambrose is hoping he can transfer his on-track skills across to the virtual world of racing.
“I’ll have to spend some time in the Sim over the next few days to ensure I’m on the pace.”
Pirtek CEO, Stephen Dutton, said it was great to see the star return to the Supercars field and racing at a track he’s so familiar with, albeit from the comfort of his living room.
“The Ambrose/Pirtek relationship goes back nearly 20 years so it’s fantastic to have Marcos again representing Pirtek, particularly at a track he’s had great success at in the past.
“Supercars has been very supportive with a wildcard entry so we look forward to seeing a Pirtek Mustang piloted by Marcos Ambrose in the BP Eseries this Wednesday night,” he said.
Round 4 of the 2020 BP Ultimate All Stars Eseries will see Ambrose re-join the Supercars field at a virtual Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, as well as NASCAR regular track Watkins Glen, where he won six times for Ford during his NASCAR career, including three consecutive years from 2008 to 2010.
Ambrose joins fellow NASCAR pro Joey Legano, along with IndyCar and Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi as the latest wildcards for the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries.
Qualifying will begin this Wednesday night at 6:00pm AEST and will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Sports 506 before racing begins at 7:00pm.
From 7:00pm, racing will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, Sky Sports (NZ) and 10 Play. Online fans from around the globe can watch races via the Supercars Facebook Page and Supercars’ Teams Facebook Pages.
