Supercars has announced a revised schedule for the second phase of engine testing at the AVL facility in Detroit.

While originally slated to begin next week, the final phase will be pushed to later this month to allow both AVL and Supercars sufficient time to thoroughly analyse the results from phase one and develop the most effective test plan for phase two.

Originally announced in June, phase two of AVL testing will be the official test and will include representatives from Supercars, the two Homologation Teams (Triple Eight Race Engineering and Dick Johnson Racing), and manufacturer representatives from General Motors and Ford.

This phase will implement the agreed parity processes to ensure both engines meet the established parity target tolerances.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard said: “Phase one of our testing at AVL has gone very well.

"The GM and Ford units have been thoroughly tested, providing us with valuable data to compare and analyse.

"We've had great support from both Ford and GM, which has helped us to navigate some slight challenges successfully.

"There is a heap of data we are collectively now working through and we all agreed that to ensure we put the best possible test plan together for phase two, the best option is to push back the original schedule slightly.

"Once testing is completed, information from the AVL testing will be passed on to all teams accordingly.”

This initiative follows the successful wind tunnel testing of vehicle aerodynamics at the Windshear facility in North Carolina, USA, before the start of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship.

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint on August 16-18. Tickets for the event are on sale now.

Live coverage can be found on Foxtel, with live streaming available on Kayo. Highlights will be shown on the Seven Network and 7plus. International viewers can follow all the action on Superview.
